A Fairer, Better, Greener Swindon

Unleash your potential so the next generation can realise theirs

WELCOME

Dear candidate,

I am delighted you are interested in coming to Swindon. We are at the start of a new political administration, and I am proud to be our new Chief Executive. I am building a leadership team who, together with colleagues, communities and partners, will deliver our three 10-year missions of reducing inequality, building a better Swindon and achieving net zero. These priorities will underpin our work, driving everything we do, and you can find out more about them on these pages.

At Swindon, we have the ambition not only to be one of the best local authorities but also to be one of the most modern and forward-thinking. Swindon is a thriving town, consistently ranked highly compared to cities across the country and we want to make it the best place we can for our residents. That said, we are absolutely alive to the challenges of the here and now.

We are now looking to build on these new foundations in our leadership team to continue to enable Swindon to deliver the highest quality of services to our residents. We are currently recruiting to our Director of Education and Inclusion. a key role within our Children’s Services.

Swindon Borough Council has always had a good reputation as an employer. We care about our workforce, and we want to do everything we can to help them succeed and achieve their own ambitions. We are determined that our Council should reflect our town’s increasing diversity, particularly in leadership roles so that we are even better placed to ensure that no one is left behind.

When I look back on our time together as a leadership team, I want us to be able to say that we were able to build a Council that helped every young person reach their potential. I want us to know that we have helped Swindon punch above its weight as a UK town, as a place to live, for investment, and as a great place to work. And I want us to have delivered our ambitions for net zero, becoming a beacon for green industries and powering up our economy.

My commitment to you is that we will do all of this together. We will be supportive, challenging, outward-looking, progressive and creative. This is the most exciting time to come to Swindon, you will never have a better opportunity to unleash your potential so our next generation can realise theirs.

Kind regards
